Jason Luros and Mary Luros of Hudson & Luros, LLP celebrate their firm’s third business anniversary.

The partners created the law firm in 2008 to provide “affordable legal services to meet the community’s needs,” a news release said.

Their efforts remain focused on the same core practice areas: business law, contracts, intellectual property, estate planning and real property, the release said.

“We focus on our clients’ needs and build relationships in the community, but we also understand that people can be wary of attorneys. We offer complimentary consultations to potential clients. And if we’re not the right fit, we’ll help you find someone who is,” Mary Luros wrote.

In 2008, Mary Hudson and Jason Luros saw a problem: with the economy in a tailspin, Napans and their businesses were facing pressure from all sides. Legal disputes were everywhere, and foreclosures, evictions and bankruptcies became commonplace. Legal rates were at stratospheric levels, so where could one find affordable legal services? There was nowhere to turn.

The original mission, to provide reasonably priced legal services in the areas that concern local Napa citizens, met the community’s needs. Hudson & Luros continue to focus on business and contract law, estate planning, real property and intellectual property law.

“Back in 2008, I said that it shouldn’t be so difficult to get affordable legal help.”

Luros continues to feel that law firms are missing out on a huge market by pricing themselves out of the budgets of most individuals and businesses. Hudson & Luros uses cost-saving technology and resources to keep rates in line with reality.

Hudson & Luros continues to work with the Napa County Chamber of Commerce to help clients starting businesses build networks, find customers and develop lasting vendor relationships.

They often refer clients to SCORE, the chamber’s consulting and advising service, to help business owners and managers answer complicated questions that don’t directly involve legal issues.

Hudson sits on several community boards, including Napa Valley Community Housing, California Women Lawyers, Napa County Women Lawyers and the Napa County Bar Association, and will be joining the Kiwanis Club of Napa’s board of directors later this year. Luros recently finished a one-year term as treasurer of the Rotary Club of Napa and volunteers for the Napa County Bar Association, Napa Valley Film Festival, Napa Learns and the Citizens Oversight Committee at Napa Valley College.

Hudson & Luros offers complimentary consultations to potential clients. Most legal services may be negotiated on a flat-fee basis.
