Property Law: Former law-school classmates open Napa firm
Former classmates and now accomplished attorneys Jason Luros and Mary Hudson are the new kids on the block in Napa, opening the Hudson & Luros practice earlier this summer.
Both graduates of Golden Gate University School of Law, the two chose Napa as the place for their first practice after visiting the countryside several times and falling in love with the community. Also, Ms. Hudson has extensive experience in agriculture with her parents, who own a walnut farm.
“I’ve been coming up for about 10 years as a tourist and sometimes resident, and it just seemed like a good place to establish roots. The community is supportive of each other, and it’s really growing. We just saw a lot of opportunity here,” Mr. Luros said.
The two are currently working from a home office on Second Street and focus primarily on real property, intellectual property, general and commercial dispute resolution, business law and estate planning.
“Our long-term goals are really to continue to grow our practice and develop a meaningful relationship with the community,” Mr. Luros said. “We both have a firm commitment to public service, and we’d like to give back to our community.”
Mr. Luros participated in the honors law program at Golden Gate, where he also received the Witkin Award for the highest marks in real property law. He has spent extensive time in Denmark, where he worked for a multinational firm, became fluent in Danish and spent a semester at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
Ms. Hudson received a specialization certificate in intellectual property in addition to her law degree and has undergraduate degrees in political science and religious studies. In the past she has worked for the government and public figures at the state, local and national level, and she has held leadership positions with the American Bar Association.
The practice offers complimentary consultations and can be reached at 707-418-5118.

Two local entrepreneurs have started a new law firm. Hudson & Luros, a general civil practice, specializes in business formation, estate planning, contract drafting, identity theft and intellectual property law.
“It shouldnʼt be so difficult to get affordable legal help these days,” partner Jason Luros said. “A growing area like Napa requires high-quality legal services, but with the current economy, the people of Napa also require reasonable rates. …”
Hudson & Luros credits the Napa County Chamber of Commerce with taking some of the frustration out of starting a business.
“Starting a law firm is hard enough,” said partner Mary Hudson. “The last thing we wanted to deal with was red tape. But starting a business in Napa is not as hard as one would think. The city has been extremely helpful throughout this process, and the Chamber of Commerce has been a useful resource.”
“Our goal in starting this law firm is to provide a service to the people of Napa that is both affordable and of the highest quality,” Luros said. “Thanks to the help of local Napa resources, we have the potential to make our business dreams a reality.”
Hudson & Luros will offer free one-hour consultations to potential clients. Most legal services may be negotiated on a flat-fee basis.
